Your First Visit at Bayview Dental Center
To improve our service to our patients, we at Bayview Dental Center have included a short write-up of what to expect during your first visit to our office. This helps reduce the anxiety and uncertainty of seeing a new dentist and gives you some insight into what will happen during your initial appointment.
Let’s Get to Know Each Other
Your first visit is not only about your oral health but gives us a chance to learn about you. There are many factors that affect your health, and we want you to be comfortable receiving treatment from us. During your initial appointment, we encourage you to ask questions, meet all of our staff, and be open and honest about your preferences and what makes you comfortable.
At the same time, we would like to learn about you. One element of offering the best oral healthcare possible includes getting information about your medical history. There are certain medical conditions and medications which can affect your health and the equipment we use during procedures. You will be asked to provide an accurate list of any medications you take and their dosages.
When you tell us about your medication, it is important to be completely honest. Even over-the-counter vitamins and illegal drugs can have serious interactions. We are not here to judge – we are here to provide quality care.
Once we know your medical history, we take a full series of x-rays of your mouth and perform a comprehensive oral exam. At this point, we are inspecting your teeth, gums, and other oral tissues to identify any preexisting problems.
You’re in Safe Hands
If you haven’t been to the dentist in a long time – please don’t worry! Our team of trained professionals is here to care for you, regardless of your current oral health.
Once you are done with the initial exam, either Dr. Hale or Dr. Hicks will speak with about the findings and provide recommendations for future treatment. We can prioritize procedures to treat issues that require immediate care and then help you create a plan for better overall health.
